Massage Therapy is a manual technique that involves the manipulation of soft tissue, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia, to promote health and well-being. It typically includes techniques such as stroking, kneading, rubbing, and pressure application. It is a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practice that can be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments. Massage therapy is performed by trained professionals known as massage therapists. Depending on practitioner, different modalities such as Thai Massage, Reflexology & Cranial Sacral Therapy may be used during your session.
Reflexology is a treatment that has been practiced for many centuries. It involves not just feet massage but also applying pressure to various points on the bottom of the foot. According to traditional Chinese Medicine, these points correspond to different parts of the body. This technique is believed to have multiple benefits, including reducing stress, aiding digestion and promoting sound sleep.
Cranial Sacral therapy, or cranial sacral therapy (CST), is a gentle, noninvasive and hands-on treatment that may provide relief from pain, like headaches and neck pain, side effects of cancer treatment and more. A healthcare provider may recommend CST in addition to other forms of treatment. CST focuses on the gentle placement of hands to help release tension in your body’s connective tissue. This is known as “fascia” (pronounced “fash-ee-uh”).
Fascia is the Latin word for band. It’s a casing found throughout your body that holds your organs, glands, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, brain and spinal cord. The fascia forms a body-wide connective tissue network. The human body is interconnected, both structurally and functionally. This means that one area of your body can affect another. The goal of CST is tension relief (fascial clearance). This may help other connected parts of your body function better through Self-regulation, Self-correction, Self-healing.
Thai massage is an ancient form of bodywork that originated in Thailand. It combines yoga-like stretches, acupressure, and assisted movements to promote relaxation, improve flexibility, and relieve pain. This service is performed on the floor or massage table.
Reiki Sessions- Reiki means “universal life energy.” It’s an ancient healing method that manipulates energy flow in the body. Reiki practitioners practice that there is an energy force in and around the body. Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with the practitioner’s hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head and front and back of the torso. The placement of the hands should never be intrusive or inappropriate, nor should there be any pressure. Sessions are fully clothed while laying down on a massage bed.
